Portland Native Plants: Where to Buy Plants

When I first started my native plant journey, I didn’t know where to go to buy plants. I just searched ‘native plants’ on google, and went to the first nursery on the list! Thankfully, since then, I’ve found a lot of sources for Portland area native plants and seeds. Most of these stores and companies also sell natives that are for other regions (Oregon coast or Oregon mountain regions), so it’s good to be aware of what you are looking for. My focus is on Portland Plant List natives, which are generally native to the Portland metro region. I’ve highlighted my top recommendation in each category. There are retail nurseries that carry native plants, retail nurseries that are exclusively native plants, and commercial/wholesale nurseries that focus on or carry native plants. If you have a large order, wholesale nurseries can be much more cost-effective. (Click on each nursery name to read more).
